A gateway to the buoyant UAE education sector

The UAE education sector has shown remarkable resilience during the COVID pandemic, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced that ten new schools are set to open in Dubai in the 2021-22 academic year. An additional 14,671 new seats will be added to Dubai’s education landscape with the opening of the new schools and there was a 2.6% increase in student enrolment in 2020. Interestingly they also note that here has been a shift to future-focused education with enrolment in information technology programmes increasing by 11% when compared with 2019/20

“GESS Dubai provides us with the ideal forum to connect with our current clients and meet with potential new customers from MENA and beyond.”

The education sector’s resilience in the UAE is down to key growth drivers such as population growth, government support and investment, increase in private schools and high demand from international students. In 2020 the UAE government allocated about 15% of its budget, US$ 2.8 billion to the education sector and has plans to transform the education sector through digital innovation and technology integration.

“iSAMS has been a proud supporter of GESS Dubai for several years. The event provides a great environment to connect with our loyal client community whilst reaching out to engage with new prospective schools interested in our market-leading software.”

There are plans to implement an AI-powered platform, called ‘Alef’, across 196 schools in across the Emirates to overcome the challenges faced in distance learning and help adopt the latest innovations in digital education including AI and big data. According to a recent report from the KHDA there is an exact 50/50 split of students doing 100% distance learning and blended learning
Schools and universities are likely to further collaborate with EdTech platforms with the speedy uptake and integration of blended learning models to improve learning outcomes and to help build a new future for the GCC education sector.
