GESS Asia exhibition and conference

GESS expands its Indonesia portfolio to cover the entire Asia region

GESS Indonesia, renamed GESS Asia, part of the global GESS Education portfolio is being expanded to cover not only the largest economy in Southeast Asia, but to serve the entire region.

The show will return as a face to face event at the Jakarta Convention Center, Indonesia from 14 to 16 September 2022, and will move to a different country within the ASEAN region each year to serve education professionals closer to home.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicts that the economic growth in Asia will be 5.4% in 2022 reflecting increased public spending. Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand are expected to be among the world’s top 25 economies by 2050. To take advantage of the unprecedented growth in the region, GESS will move to Thailand in 2023 and The Philippines 2024. Expanding the scale and profile of the previous GESS Indonesia event and tap into the wider ASEAN education community.

“We believe that the time is now to bring GESS to the next level, benefiting more communities, educational suppliers and the entire education community. GESS Asia will retain the essential characteristics of any GESS show with our world class, free, CPD accredited conference content and innovative products on the exhibition floor, but will also take into account each countries specific needs educational needs.” said Matt Thompson, Project Director at Tarsus. “By renaming the event GESS Asia, the show will be able to address the needs or the region and empower the sector with knowledge, content, solutions and technology.”

With more than 15 years’ experience of the global education market, GESS is renowned as the meeting place for the entire education industry, with educators from early years, K-12 and higher ed institutions looking to network, discover the latest educational solutions and do business. The show was first brought to Asia in 2015, selecting Indonesia as its home and will now expand its outreach.

“For years, GESS Indonesia has helped education professionals here to grow and develop their skills, knowledge and experience. What we learn from GESS, we bring back to our classrooms so our students can benefit as well. It is great that GESS Indonesia is expanding to be GESS Asia, I think our countries are alike in so many ways and we can always learn from each other. While it is still in Indonesia this year, we look forward to attending the show again in person.” said Richard Sidharta, Chairperson of Association of National Private Schools in Indonesia.

GESS Asia will be focusing on the main theme of “Technology Driven Learning for Inclusive and Effective Educational Experience”, highlighting how technology helps improve teaching and learning process. With the acceleration of technology in schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers, students and institutions have had to adapt quickly. What has come to light is the equal importance of softer skills such as wellbeing, inclusion and mental resilience for everyone. The conference will address these important topics as well as a range of other key educational trends. Bringing together engaging industry keynotes and influential local practitioners to present a combination of inspirational talks and dynamic, hands-on workshops enabling the audience to take home practical teaching methods to use in the classroom immediately.

“Educators are pressured to be fluent in digital technology so that their teaching activities can be smooth and efficient. Many teachers are seeking to improve their soft skills to engage their students in online classrooms. It is one of JSDI’s mission to boost digital technology adoption in schools and creating an inclusive environment where everybody can participate effectively,” said Muhammad Ramli Rahim, Chairperson of Jaringan Sekolah Digital Indonesia (Indonesian Digital Schools Network). “GESS Asia will be a good platform for us to socialise and encourage education professionals to improve their skills and find out more about new technology available.”

GESS Asia takes place on 14 – 16 September 2022 and this year will take place in Indonesia in the Jakarta Convention Center. Featuring three days of inspirational and innovative content for educators of all levels and 100+ brands showcasing the latest educational solutions.
