We're pleased to announce this latest webinar that will be part of a two-day virtual EdTech summit that will feature inspiring discussions designed for leaders in education. 

Taking place on the 25th of May, 11:15 GST / UAE, 10:15 AST / Saudi Arabia, as part of the Victorian EdTech Summit, this panel session will shine light on key issues that schools faced during the pandemic and how they have been able to implement key digital strategies to overcome these challenges. The panellists, all leaders in top international private schools, will share best practices and top tips for digital governance and ways to sustain digital transformations going forward.

Meet the speakers for this panel discussion:

Chairperson: Philippa Wraithmell, Head of Digital Education & Strategy, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi

Philippa Wraithmell is the Head of Digital Education and strategy at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.  Formally Head of Computing and Digital Literacy at an Apple Distinguished 1:1 Device school in the UAE. She became an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2019 after leading the school to Apple Distinguished that year, delivering whole school training build around digital technology teaching and learning. This spanned teachers from FS1-YR12.  In addition to this Philippa works with educators across the Emirates to support them to deliver digital learning as well as more recently remote learning. Philippa has a drive and passion to educate staff, parents and students on digital safety, underpinning everything she does in schools who deliver digital learning.  Meaningful use of education technology is of upmost importance in the delivery to all students in and out of the classroom. In 2020 Philippa won a GESS education award for Innovation in Learning and is very much looking forward to sharing and learning further with other educators. Philippa has been a teacher and leader in primary and secondary schools for 12 years, both in the UK and the UAE.  She has a background in STEAM and Fashion design graduating from Nottingham Trent University.

Andrew Turner, Group Head of Education Technology & Innovation, Aldar Education

Andy is an experienced instructional technology leader whose vision is to help people to use technology to realise their full potential. He has worked in PK-12, vocational and higher education institutions and currently serves as the Group Head of Education Technology and Innovation for ALDAR Education.

Hilary Hunt, Senior Lead Teaching and Learning, Victoria International School of Sharjah

Hilary Hunt currently works as the Senior Lead of Teaching and Learning at Victoria International School. She has worked K-12 in New Zealand, Taiwan and the UAE, and lectured at Paris IV-La Sorbonne in Paris. As a language teacher, digital technology has been a key component of her classroom, and she was the first New Zealand National Examiner of French to trial a fully online external exam. Hilary is a passionate teacher-mentor and believes that all students should be able to determine their own pathway to educational success. She is a strong voice for student-centric education and research based effective practice. She works with teachers to ensure that their classrooms are modern, future focused learning environments. She believes that Teacher Professional Learning should not be a "one-size fits all" model, but rather, should allow teachers to "choose their own adventure." Technology integration has been key in her approach to providing teacher agency in Professional Learning at VISS.

Linda Parsons, Digital Lead, Deira International School

Linda is a science teacher and Educational Technology Lead with a passion for creating meaningful digital environments for her students. Linda created her first Digital Classroom as a Google Educator in 2016, where her students were able to develop their science and digital citizenship skills in a safe and collaborative environment. Linda is now using her MIE Expert knowledge to help students and colleagues in her school and beyond integrate technology in every subject to enrich their teaching and learning experiences. Linda currently works in Deira International School, a school that harnesses the power of educational technology from the Early Years to equip their students with the skills needed to become the responsible global leaders of tomorrow.

Olly Lewis, Assistant Headteacher Teaching & Learning, The British International School Abu Dhabi

Olly is Assistant Head of Digital Learning at The British International School Abu Dhabi, he's passionate about raising pupil outcomes, pedagogy, learning and teaching. He's also founder of #LearnLiveUAE, the 2020 GESS Award Winner for Best Use of Digital Learning in the Classroom and blogs at ollylewislearning.com
