Five Questions Worth Asking Before a School Chooses Its Uniform Supplier

Every student wears it, every parent buys it, and every visitor sees it first. Ahead of GESS Dubai and Education Investment MENA, Ukrainian brand 2×2 School Uniforms shares the questions that shape its work with private schools. A uniform decision is usually made once and revisited rarely, yet its effects are felt every school day for years: in how garments hold up through lessons, breaks and sport, in how they fit a growing child, and in how consistently they carry the school’s identity. Many of these points can be settled before the first order is placed.

2×2 has designed school uniforms since 2014 and today works with almost all private schools in Ukraine. Abroad, Trinity Private School in Cyprus runs a seasonal uniform and accessories programme with the brand. Across these partnerships, five questions come up again and again.

1. What is in the fabric?

Fabric composition decides how a uniform performs over a full school year. Blends of 65–70% polyester are common across the industry. 2×2 keeps polyester at no more than 40% of the composition, so garments breathe through an active day and hold their shape.

2. Has the fit been tested on children?

A pattern can look right on paper and still not work on a child who runs, sits and grows. At 2×2, patterns are tested on real children repeatedly before they are finalised for production.

3. How does the uniform handle growth?

Children grow unevenly over a school year. 2×2 builds adjustment into the garment itself: the Two-Fit sizing system, inner drawstrings and waist regulators appear in everyday trousers and skirts, not only in sportswear.

4. Is it a set of items or a system?

A uniform is rarely one garment. It covers polos and shirts, blazers, sweatshirts, fleece layers, windbreakers, track trousers and shorts, and accessories. 2×2 develops each school’s uniform as a School Wardrobe System built on one design logic, so new pieces can be added season by season, even years later, and the wardrobe still reads as one.

5. What happens after delivery?

For 2×2, delivery is not the end of the work. The team stays in contact with every school it works with and remains responsible for the quality of every piece it makes. Collections can also be refreshed over time while keeping the school’s identity intact.

Where the work starts

Every project begins with the school’s identity. A brand book, or simply a logo and school colours, is enough for the 2×2 team to propose first design options. Volumes and production are agreed individually, because no two schools order in the same way, so the approach suits single schools and school groups alike. 2×2 is also open to working with companies that supply uniforms in their local markets and are looking for a manufacturing partner.

Meet the team in Dubai

At both stands, the 2×2 team will present fabrics, construction details and complete school wardrobes. School leaders and procurement teams can handle the pieces and talk through their requirements, with meetings arranged in advance or on the day.

A uniform is worn every day for years. The decisions behind it deserve the same care that goes into making it.
