Higher Education challenges and Responses During Covid-19: University of Sharjah Experience

The University of Sharjah (UOS) started Distance Learning on March 7, 2020 after the announcement of UAE authorities to transform teaching and learning in all institutions to Distance Learning. As this is the first experience, but also for institutions around the world, we are very pleased and proud with the progress and success of both distance learning and remote work at UOS.

Our students were able to successfully complete the Spring and Summer academic semesters including assessment. In a very short period, teams and committees at various levels were able to provide academics and students with the needed technologies, training, and support to ensure smooth transition to distance learning. However, there were several challenges and obstacles that need to be overcome that needed hard work and dedication form all teams. In this presentation, I will present the UOS Distance Learning experience including challenges, and a post-covid-19 strategy.

Dr. Hussein Elmehdi, Dean of Academic Support Services - University of Sharjah
